For my MLK Day of Service, I volunteered at Peacehaven Farm in Greensboro, North Carolina, an organization that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through inclusive farming and community engagement. Participating in this service opportunity allowed me to reflect on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s message about service, equality, and caring for others.
Working at Peacehaven Farm showed me the importance of creating inclusive spaces where everyone is valued and supported. The experience reminded me that service is not just about helping, but also about learning, listening, and building meaningful connections within the community. As an education major, this opportunity reinforced my desire to be a positive role model and to support environments that promote dignity, respect, and growth for all individuals.
This experience strengthened my commitment to community involvement and reminded me that even small acts of service can have a lasting impact.
